48 days to go…
…until my due date. I say that with just a touch of panic. I don’t feel ready and I’m pretty sure I’m never going to feel ready. Just one of those things.
We had our childbirth class yesterday. It was an all day thing…a requirement of the hospital. I can’t say I learned a whole lot of new things, but overall it was good. They could have made it a 2 hour class and still covered everything, though. We got a tour of labor & delivery. Of course, Mark and I had been there before…a couple months ago when I had to go in for observation. We didn’t get to hear about how everything works there though. It turns out there are 2 types of rooms…labor & delivery rooms (I was in one of those when we went in before) and postpartum rooms. They have very lax visitation hours…so people can come see me whenever. The scariest (and also most exciting) part of the day was hearing a very new newborn crying while we were touring L&D. I guess it just kind of hit me (rather hard) that it won’t be long at all before that’s OUR baby crying. OH. MY. GOD. Like I said, I’ll never be ready. But I’ll be fine when it’s time. There’s just no being prepared for this.
After we got home from the class I had to do the weekly grocery shopping. I went to Wal-Mart this week. I won’t even get into how much that places irritates me. I was in quite a state when I got home. I was really tired, but I couldn’t sit still. So, I worked on the laundry and attempted to work on the valance for Anna’s room. NOTHING was going right. To top it off when I was trying to get up from the dining room table (where I had the sewing machine set up) I pinched a nerve in my hip. BAD. So bad that I screamed. I never scream. Weird. Anyway, Mark was up from the computer and over to me pretty quick. The pinched nerve was really just the icing on the cake. I had a little meltdown. I had tried to clean the bathtub earlier and had to quit because I just couldn’t lean over that far and breathe at the same time. I just got more and more frustrated because I couldn’t seem to do anything I tried to do! So Mark pretty much told me I needed to go to bed. So, he helped me get to the bed, brought me some Tylenol. I didn’t want to go to sleep…there was too much I wanted to get done, but he insisted I go to sleep, and said he’d take care of the laundry and cleaning up the house. And he did! When I got up this morning he had all but finished the laundry, washed the dishes and cleaned up the kitchen! Isn’t he good?
Today I stayed in my pajamas until almost 5pm. It’s been kind of rainy most of the day. I worked on some little projects inside. I finished the valance for Anna’s room, after a brief phone consultation with my mother. I think it turned out pretty well considering I can’t really sew! What do you think?

The curtain rod and brackets will be painted white as soon as I get Mark some white spray paint. I like how it turned out I think. After that project was finished I helped Mark hang everything back on the walls in the living room. Now I’ve just got to get the drapes from the cleaners and rehang them and it’s all done! Here’s a little preview…this is the mantle in the living room. I know the mirror is hung to high. Mark was in NO mood to rehang it after he got it up there…that thing is HEAVY!! I’m sure I can talk him into lowering it later.

We’re really loving the yellow in there. This picture doesn’t really show it correctly, but it sure did brighten up that room! The whole room most definitely has my stamp on it now! I think that’s funny. Every time we get done redoing a room I think that. Of course, before we redid the living room there was almost nothing of mine in it. It looked pretty much like it did when I moved in. I know Mark likes it the new way alot though, so I don’t feel bad! It just feels likes it’s ours now. It has BOTH of our stamps on it!
After we got the living room walls done I lined the drawers of the dresser in Anna’s room and cleaned off her mantle. Mark hung the painting Laura gave me over the mantle too. It looks nice! Then I started packing the hospital bag. It won’t be finished for quite some time, but I got it started. I think that’s about it. I’m tired in a good way tonight. I feel like I got something done!
I hope everyone has a good week!
Oh, and here’s the latest belly progression…

The valance looks good. I thought you were going to space the band of ribbon apart, but I think it is a nice touch….and it looks straight!
XOXO

The valance looks great, the ribbon trim is the perfect touch! Give Mark a pat on the head, “good boy”.
